Former England Star Shaun Wright Phillips Caught Driving With No Licence

1 Nov, 2016 | Carl Millar, Manchester Magistrates Court, Motoring Law Solicitors, Speeding | 0 comments

Ex Manchester City, Chelsea and England footballer, Shaun Wright Phillips has been fined for driving a £50k Range Rover with no driving licence.

And he once avoided a prison sentence for disqualified driving by claiming he never knew he was banned.

This was when he missed a number of court summonses after his Bentley was clocked at a speed of 79mph in a 50mph zone.

The court heard that all the letters had been sent to his agent’s house and he had no knowledge of them.

After avoiding a potential jail sentence, he was eventually fined £800 and promised to always open his post in the future.

In relation to the present driving licence matter, the case was dealt with administratively and he was fined £220 along with an order to pay costs.

Wright Phillips now plays for US team, New York Red Bulls.
